Keeping Our Music on the Air: Supporting Our Winter Concert Broadcast
For years, the University of Pittsburgh Men’s Glee Club has had the privilege of sharing our performances with audiences beyond the concert hall through media broadcasts, most noteably, radio broadcasts on WQED-FM. WQED-FM has allowed alumni, family members, friends, and supporters, both near and far, to remain connected with our organization and experience the music and traditions that make the Men’s Glee Club so special.
Unfortunately, due to recent departmental funding cuts, financial support for these broadcasts is no longer available. As a result, the responsibility of covering the costs associated with producing and broadcasting our concerts now falls upon the Men’s Glee Club itself.
Despite this challenge, we remain committed to preserving this longstanding tradition and ensuring that our performances continue to reach audiences beyond the concert hall. For many members of our community, particularly alumni and loved ones who are unable to attend in person, these broadcasts provide an invaluable opportunity to remain connected with the club and its musical legacy.
To help continue this tradition, we are asking our alumni, friends, and supporters to consider making a contribution toward the production and broadcasting costs of our upcoming winter concert. Our goal is to raise $1,000 to help ensure that our performances can continue to be on-air.
Every contribution, regardless of size, will make a meaningful difference in our efforts to preserve this tradition and share our music with the wider Pitt community.
If you would like to support our efforts, donations can be made here
On behalf of the entire Men’s Glee Club, we sincerely thank you for your generosity and continued support. With your help, we hope to keep our music on the air and preserve this special tradition for generations of members to come!
Looking Ahead: Spring Concert
While our winter concert is quickly approaching, preparations for the spring semester are also on the horizon!
Our upcoming spring concert will offer another opportunity for the Men's Glee Club to showcase its musical growth and celebrate the traditions that continue to bring our members and audiences together.
The concert will take place on Saturday, April 10, 2027, at 4:00 PM, at the First Baptist Church of Pittsburgh. As we look ahead to the new year, we are excited to build upon our experiences from the fall semester and share another memorable performance with our alumni, friends, and supporters.
We look forward to sharing more details as the spring semester approaches and hope you will join us for another celebration of music and camaraderie!
3. On the Road: Spring Tour
One of the most cherished traditions of the Pitt Men's Glee Club is the opportunity to take our music beyond the University of Pittsburgh campus.
This spring, we are excited to continue that tradition as we embark on our annual domestic tour to Cleveland, Ohio, from May 4–8, 2027!
Throughout our time in Cleveland, we look forward to sharing our music with new audiences, exploring the city, and strengthening the friendships that make our ensemble so special.
We are excited for another opportunity to represent the University of Pittsburgh beyond campus and look forward to sharing more details about our travels as the spring semester approaches!
4. Until Next Time
As we look ahead to the remainder of the academic year, I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to our alumni, friends, families, and supporters who continue to make the Men’s Glee Club such a special organization.
Whether through attending our performances, supporting our endeavors, or simply keeping in touch, your continued involvement helps preserve the traditions and sense of community that have defined our ensemble for generations.
As both a new member and your Social Media Chair, I am excited to be part of this next chapter of our organization’s history. I look forward to keeping you updated on our upcoming performances, accomplishments, and experiences throughout the year.
On behalf of the Men’s Glee Club, thank you for your continued support, and we hope to see you at our upcoming winter concert!
Hail to Pitt!
